Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is my data safe?
Yes. In demo mode, Anfitrión works with local test data in the browser. In connected mode, authentication, financial data and receipt attachments use your own Supabase project. Changes made in the interface are applied first on screen and then saved to Supabase; if saving fails, the application reverts the change and shows a notice.
The scanner didn't detect the amount or date correctly. What do I do?
Don't worry. The scanner is an aid, not a rule. After analysis you'll see a form with the extracted data — you can manually edit any field (amount, date, concept, category) before saving.
To improve accuracy, configure an AI vision engine in your .env.local: Claude Vision (VITE_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY) or OpenRouter (VITE_OPENROUTER_API_KEY). Both are significantly more reliable than local OCR, especially on receipts with poor lighting or small text. OpenRouter has a free tier with no card required.
Can I upload PDF invoices?
Yes. In the scanner screen, choose "Upload File" and select any PDF. The system automatically renders the first page and analyzes it with the available vision engine. The original PDF is saved as an attachment to the transaction.
To view it later, open the transaction — you'll see a card with the PDF icon and a "View PDF" button that opens it in a new tab.
How do I switch properties?
If you manage multiple properties, you can switch between them from the upper side menu. Each property keeps its own budgets, transactions and independent configurations.
What's the difference between an "Open" and "Closed" transaction?
- Open: A recorded movement that requires attention (e.g. an invoice received but not yet paid, or a booking not yet collected).
- Closed: A finalized movement reconciled with your bank.
How do I change the language or the regional format?
Anfitrión separates the two:
- Language: Click the globe icon in the top header (visible at all times, including the login screen). It toggles the entire interface between English (default) and Spanish. The choice is saved in your browser and, if you're signed in, syncs to your user profile.
- Regional format: Open Settings → Regional format in the side menu. Choose between Auto (follows the UI language), English (UK), English (US) or Español (España). This only changes how currencies, dates and numbers are displayed — the UI language stays the same. A live preview shows the resulting format.
The first time you open the app, both default to your browser's language; you can override either independently afterwards.
Tips and Best Practices
Keep data up to date
Anfitrión's value lies in the accuracy of its data. Spend 5 minutes a week uploading the receipts and invoices you've received. If you leave it until the end of the quarter, the task will be much heavier.
Be realistic with the budget
It's better to budget slightly high on utilities (Electricity and Water). Seeing a positive deviation (savings) is much more motivating than seeing constant red numbers from being too optimistic.
Use tags and colors
Customize your categories with colors you recognize quickly visually. For example, put taxes in red and utilities in blue. It'll help you read the charts at a glance.
Digitize everything
Even if you already have the paper invoice, scan it with the app. Having a centralized digital repository saves hours of searching when your accountant asks for documentation for tax filing.
Review your Strategy quarterly
Don't wait until year-end to see if the business is working. Every three months, review your Strategy section and adjust rates or campaigns if you see projected occupancy isn't being met.
